The annual Contract Catering Awards, formerly the FSM awards, recognises outstanding individuals who have made a significant contribution to the industry – the exceptional talent of the contract catering world. The awards are judged by peers and the winners received their awards at a ceremony at the Leonardo Royal Hotel, London, on 29th March 2022.
Michelle Perry, catering manager at Wren Academy Trust in Finchley, has been instrumental in providing nutritious and appealing meals to 1,400 children, ranging from age 4 through to sixth form, for eight years. During lockdown, she and one other member of her team continued to operate a service to support 50 children of key workers and provided food for NHS workers and the Police Force, along with a range of initiatives to ensure a successful service including the introduction of a ‘Covid compliant’ salad bar for teachers
On the gradual return of staff and children to school after lock-down, Michelle introduced an outdoor sandwich pod for the children which reduced queuing times by 50%.
Michelle is a key part of the Academy’s team who regularly participates in healthy eating activities and supports open days; she always listens attentively to the children, parents and staff to ensure that they are receiving an excellent service.
Catherine Roe, CEO of Elior, said: “Congratulations to Michelle on winning this award which recognises the amazing service she provides and reflects the positive impact she has made as an exceptional catering manager.”
