This role sits within our Education division – catering for students. Elior is committed to safeguarding children and colleagues. Candidates that are shortlisted for this role, will be required to have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, including Children's Barred List, and two suitable references.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations within contractual terms
- Ensure food quality and service meet the company's reputation through planning, cooking, and presentation
- Comply with food and premise legislation through control procedures and record-keeping
- Manage food production and service within a set budget
- Handle unit clerical duties using digital or paper systems in line with policies
- Track and reconcile expenses, cash receipts, and stock usage
- Manage, take responsibility for, and train staff within the Unit
- Order and track supplies from approved vendors
- Display accurate weekly menus and maintain hygiene, Food Safety, and Health & Safety standards as per regulations
- Exhibit statutory notices and address incidents like accidents, thefts, or property damages
- Coordinate with Area Manager/Supervisor to adjust staffing levels as needed
- Monitor portion control and ensure cleanliness of premises and equipment, including addressing spillages
- Assist with dining furniture setup, cleaning, and storage.
- Report equipment defects to school/management
- Undertake tasks as needed for efficient unit operation and fulfil company requests, including staff
Working Pattern: Monday - Friday, 6 hours per day, term time only
In this role:
- Contract catering/cheffing experience is essential
- Good secondary education. Either achieved craft qualifications or willing to study for them.
- Numerate and able to communicate in written and spoken English.
- Has the potential to plan kitchen activities and organise the work of others.
- Demonstrates flair and innovation. Manual dexterity. Good instructor.
- Potential to undertake menu planning and costing.
- Committed to achieving good standards of food hygiene.
- Relates well to staff and customers to accept more responsibility.
- Keen to learn from more experienced professionals.
- Willing & able to travel often at short notice
- Own vehicle is essential
